About Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is one of India's most largest national park that is world renowned for the Bengal Tiger. It is believed that wide area of national park determined as Tiger Reserved. It is located in the Nainital Dist. Uttarakhand that was estabilished by William Malcolm Hailey by the name Hailey National Park in the 1936 after that it was renamed as Jim Corbett National Park after independence 1956, Jim Corbett is a naturalist who played main role for establishment. The national park is scatterd at 520 km2 area of hills in which exist depression marsh, grass land, riverine belts and a huge lake. It is geo-logically set on the sub himalaya range that is believed moist decedious forest where flourishing numerous plant and trees species such as Saal tree, Hildu, Peepal, rohini and mango trees and 105 species of other trees along with numerous species of animals and birds are habitating such as 50 species of mammals, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species in which the Bengal Tiger is also listed that is determined our national animal. This most precious species are announced endangered because of the disappearing of tiger species so the government decided to run a campaign by the name of Tiger Procject in 1973 in which tiger was conserved and made some special laws for conserving the wild animals. From past few decade forest department is running jungle safari where tourists have an opportinities to explore small part of the forest. There are 7 different zones and all Tiger Reserve area.

Dhikala Jeep Safari

Dhikala is a core zone in the Corbett National Park where also facility of night stay that property is built by the government. You may book here night stay, canter and jeep in the Dhikala zone.

Forest department doesn't provide permission for jeep safari in the Dhikala zone. Who have booked night accommodation in the Dhikala zone only they can get jeep for exploring the Dhikala zone and canter safari is available for normal visitors. If you have permitt of Forest Rest House (FRH) so you have to hire a jeep with driver and a naturalist. who will take you inside the forest. After reaching the rest house in the forest you are free to explore forest natural environment through jeep safari that start and end time are prescribed.

Canter Safari in Dhikala

Dhikala zone can be also explored by the canter that is 16 seater vehicle like open bus what can be booked per seat from this official website of Wildlife Safari India. This vehicle also managed by the Jim Corbett forest department that is fully authorized to visit in the tiger reserve area, this is only way for the normal visitors to explore this zone because day jeep safari is not conducted here. Ramnagar corbett office is bording point of canter safari to visit in the dhikala zone and during the day safari it stops around the forest rest house where tourists can deboard from the canter and get refreshed, you may explore forest beauty with take a walk in the compund which is 100 percent safe.

Attraction In the Dhikala Zone

There are numerous species of animals and this zone is very rich for sighting the Bengal Tiger that is salient attraction of the Jim Corbett National Park because it is very deep part of the forest. Dhikala is come up from Dhikal grassland what is believed gigantic grassland area in the Corbett. Along with Bengal Leopards and Asiatic lions are also prime attractions are here which can be seen very easily but there are less chance to spot the Tiger as compare to the other animals. Other animals after these 3 major species are spotted deer, sambhar deer, hog deer, langurs, wild boars, crocodiles and many other animals and reptiles.
